An Urban Sanctuary in the Heart of Powiśle: A 120-Square-Meter Apartment in a Pre-War Tenement House

Located in a pre-war tenement house in Warsaw’s Powiśle district, this space demanded respect for history, uncompromising quality, and artisanal craftsmanship.

The historical character of the interior is palpable the moment you step inside. The hallway floor is adorned with a two-toned mosaic of iconic “gorseciki” (hourglass-shaped tiles)—a nod to Warsaw’s interwar architecture. Another eye-catching feature is the custom-designed plaster alcove, seamlessly integrated with a countertop made of burgundy Rosso Levanto marble.

Most of the furnishings are unique, custom-made pieces designed by the JT GRUPA team. All bespoke cabinetry—from the fronts to the carcasses—has been crafted from solid oak. In the bedroom, which connects to a private walk-in closet, hardware from an English manufacturer in a gunmetal finish adds a touch of distinct character.

The open-plan living area has been subtly divided using wooden openwork screens into a lounge zone, a dining area, and a kitchen, which is dominated by an Arabescato Corchia marble countertop and a sculptural light fixture from the American brand Alex Allen.

However, the true oasis of peace is the bedroom, overlooking a quiet courtyard patio. The adjacent en-suite bath is finished with two types of marble, and its centerpiece is a luxurious, two-toned bathtub by Agape, complemented by a custom oak vanity and an organically shaped mirror.

The result is a sensory, timeless, and tailor-made interior—perfect for celebrating urban life.
